Snippet From Tale

The crowd moved another inch closer to the door.

It was hot, squeezed in among all those people. Roger squirmed a hand up out of the press and undid the top button on his shirt. Behind him, the breath of Hades spewed down his neck.

Roger started to pant. He breathed through his mouth to avoid the smell. Sweltering. Sweat broke out on his face. His armpits overflowed, soaking his shirt. Just a few more feet.

The crowd inched forward.

An arm went around his neck. He started to choke. He grabbed at the arm with both hands. They slipped off. Air. Blackness flooded into his vision. Someone screamed. Then an all-too-familiar voice spoke in his ear.

"Now it's your turn, Roger. See how you like jail."

The arm squeezed harder. Roger passed out.

About This Neat Tale

Hiding from Eddie relates a tale centered around the pivotal moment in Roger West's life. That event took place on August 12th, 1967 at 2:12 a.m. Years later, in October 2001, Roger is given an opportunity to change that moment. His enigmatic martial arts' teacher guides him beyond physical training and into The Cold Void, a place where Roger's past is not written in stone.

When his wife is viciously attacked on the street, Roger tries to reshape events in an attempt to save her. But, before he can, he must go back further to save himself and face the worst demon of his childhood: Eddie.

It seems innocent enough for an eight-year-old, sleeping out with friends in a neighbor's backyard, to creep home at 2:00 a.m. on an August night in 1967 to make a sandwich. The consequences of entering the house unexpectedly that particular night prove to have nearly destroyed young Roger. He faces a devastating confrontation and the mystery of a dog whimpering in the bathroom, a dog that had disappeared the previous winter.

As the night unfolds, Roger finds the inner strength to at last face Eddie in an attempt to save his family.

Armed with new courage, Roger goes back to deal with the attack on his wife. Hindered by wounds from his battle in the past, he hurries to save her. In attempting to do so, he's forced to come to grips with a shocking revelation.

From A Review

Hiding from Eddie is a good read. The characters are believable and the author effortlessly places them in circumstances that are familiar to the reader. Who hasn't had a boss from hell or hasn't been run over by office politics? Like many of us, Roger has to balance his time and loyalty to his employer with his time and dedication to his wife Vicky. But there are other elements that play an important role in Roger's life too, his dedication to "Teacher," his martial arts instructor, and his memory of Eddie...
